Dr. Theobald 'Theo' and Brigid Faulkner by Mythologist611GL Dr. Theobald 'Theo' and Brigid Faulkner by Mythologist611GL
Name: Brigid Faulkner

Hair colour: Dirty blonde

Eye colour: Hazel

Age: 15

Race: Human

Relatives: Dr. Theobald Faulkner (uncle), Andrew and Margaret Faulkner (parents, deceased), Christina (cousin, deceased), Bernard (second-cousin, deceased)

Personality: A tomboy in nature, Brigid never had any female role models growing up. As a result, she is better at relating to boys than girls. Although she is highly observant and has a good heart, she tends to be confrontational, blunt in her way of speaking and brutally honest. She's not afraid to voice her opinions, even if they clash with the opinions of others. When she meets someone new, Brigid doesn't warm up to that person right away. That person needs to earn her trust and respect. Fortunately, once they do, they'll have a loyal friend in Brigid for life.

Name: Dr. Theobald 'Theo' Faulkner, PhD

Hair colour: Brown

Eye colour: Sterling grey

Age: Late 40s - mid 50s

Race: Human

Relatives: Brigid Faulkner (niece), Andrew Faulkner (brother, deceased), Margaret Faulkner (sister-in-law, deceased), Christina (daughter, deceased), Bernard (cousin, deceased)

Personality: As a researcher, Theo feels more at ease when he is cooped up in his lab and focusing on his researches. However, at the same time, he doesn't mind socialising with other people. He has always been fascinated with mutants (not in an unhealthy way), and his current research revolves around the study of the origins of mutant powers (he has samples in his lab from mutants who donated some of their DNA to him when he still worked in the military). He has a habit of comparing places and situations to chemical formulas. He likes to spend his past-time reading Shakespeare and is able to quote the plays word for word (a feet very impressive for this day and age). Personality wise, Theobald is patient, caring, and, like his niece, is highly observant. Unfortunately, he can also be very blunt and brutally honest if pushed too far. Although he puts on a brave face for appearance's sake, Theo is deeply wracked with a strong sense of guilt and sadness, mostly because of what happened to most of his relatives in the past.

History: The best way to describe the Faulkner family is tragedy.
Theobald Faulkner (nicknamed 'Theo') and his brother, Andrew, were born in Oxford, England. From an early age, Theo was seen as a prodigy by adults, on account that he was intellectually ahead of children his age. When he left school, Theo enrolled in the University of London and graduated with a PhD in physics and a master's degree in engineering. Five years later, he married and had a family of his own. Both his wife and daughter suffered from a terminal illness when they were both still alive, and both had untimely deaths, with Christina dying when she was only twelve years-old. It was around this time that the Combines invaded earth again.
Being a doctor with a PhD and master's degree, Theo, along with Andrew, were roped into the British military because in his own words, they needed a "scrawny nerd who can make them super-sized weapons". Despite this, Theo dutifully aided the military in crafting weapons for them. His most prominent projects were 'taser wrist-watches' (which were basically taser guns in the form of watches), a prototype of a boomerang weapon (he only ever made the one) that could slice through any aliens and always returned to its owner (the one Brigid is holding) and a powerful device code-named 'EXCALIBUR' after the legendary sword of Arthurian legend. The last project he discontinued because he felt it was too dangerous to use. There are rumours that the British military resumed the project after he left.
It was during this time that Theo met and befriended several mutants. Through them, Theo developed the interest of studying the origins of mutant powers and requested that these mutants donate some of their DNA in order to help in his research. It was also during this time that his brother, Andrew, met and fell in love with Margaret, one of their fellow military comrades. They were wedded on the battlefields, and nine months later their daughter, Brigid, was born.
Two years later, Theo started to question the British military's less-than-ethnic methods on dealing with the combines. On the eve that Andrew and Margaret were to return to the battlefields, Theo and Andrew got into an argument over these methods. The argument ended with a falling out between the two brothers. The next day, Andrew and Margaret were both killed in action. Theo blamed himself for never apologising to his brother and decided to leave the military. His commanding officers protested against this decision, but Theo stood firm and quickly retired, taking his now two year-old niece, some of his projects, and mutant DNA samples with him.
When they returned to Oxford, Theo and Brigid, along with several survivors of the invasion, evacuated to an underground compound when it was felt that the surface was deemed too dangerous to inhabit. They have been living their ever since, with Theo raising Brigid, his last living relative, as best he could.
In the present day, Theo helps with smuggling resources into the compound with the help of mutant mercenaries that he saved from a tight spot in the past. He knows that Brigid wants to play a part in fighting the Combines but he is extremely reluctant in letting her go. He already lost many of his family. He doesn't want to loose another.

It's technically a collab fic between me and ingodzhandz.deviantart.com/, so it will take a while for the story to officially get started.

Thank you very much.Hug  The OCs I made in the Portal folder are mostly adoptables for ingodzhandz.deviantart.com/ as part of any future stories she might write. You should check her fanfiction story out sometime.

They sound like interesting characters.  You could help me write dialogue for them.

Ironically, I had an idea for one of the mutants in the resistance.  Her name is Victoria.  Her family is full of circus performers, so as a result, she is very flexible and acrobatic, but she has the powers of a vampire.  She has fangs, she can shapeshift into a bat, she can live off of blood (but can't transform people), she can hypnotize people, she is super fast, and she is super strong.  She has really long golden blonde hair and green eyes.  Her personality is that she is very confident and very flirty.  She is also very clever and enjoys annoying people.

I see. You know, if you like, I can draw images of the mutant mercenaries that work for Theo. It may take a while though...

Yeah, I think the best way to describe Brigid is that she's a bit of a tsundere, you know, like those female characters in anime.

I see.  She's a little bit like Albina.  Although Albina is not a complete tsundere.

To some extent, but for different reasons. While Brigid is mostly 'dere-dere' (sweet) to her uncle, she's 'tsun-tsun' (harsh) to pretty much everyone else.

OK

Albina can be sweet when she thinks she needs to be.  She just also at times is sassy.  These two have different personalities.  Hugo is more of a tsundere than Albina is.  I can also see Brigid getting annoyed with Albina's playful sass at first.

I can also see Brigid butting heads with Brandon as well. Like Albina, she does have a mischievous streak.

Also her attitude towards them is somewhat justified in her living conditions. Due to a constant paranoia of their underground compound getting invaded by the Combines, most of the people there are horrendously distrustful of visitors.
While Brigid is slightly more relaxed about it, it's Theo who would be the only sane one in the compound.

She does?  Then Albina and Brigid may get along well.  I get the feeling you don't like Brandon that much.  LOL

I can understand that but only sane one?

Okay, well, I admit sane may be a bit of a stretch, given Theo's history with the British military (who are rumored to use methods similar to the Combines), and his reliance on mutant mercenaries to smuggle in resources (mercenaries who will only listen to him).

That said, Theo is still a descent enough person, and the only one who will treat your characters fairly when they meet him. It will take his niece a while to warm up to them though.

Speaking of vampires, did you know that the author of Dracula was Irish?

Hmm...well, that depends on what type of dialogue you're looking for. Are you looking for narrative dialogue or simple quotations?

Ah, that irony...Sweating a little...

Yes, it's true. Bram Stoker was the author and he was from Ireland: www.google.ie/url?sa=t&rct=j&a…

I get it now.  It's because Victoria is an English name, right?

I never realized that.  Bram Stoker doesn't sound Irish to me.
